Ingersoll Rand 5-HP Air Compressor VS Other

Post by RiegelPC » Fri Nov 08, 2013 1:12 am

I'm in the process of buying a new compressor and the Ingersoll Rand 5-HP caught my eye. I would be using this compressor to run my small shop (Sandblaster and Powder Gun) I will be purchasing B17 or something equivalent that is safer. My question is how many of you dealt with IR. On the the air compressor sites they're giving it mixed reviews. If you have any other suggestion below $800 shipped please share! I know Craigslist is another route but I rather play it safe and get a new compressor with warranty. Thank you!

I have a IR 5hp 80 gallon that I use all day long and have been for over a year now without any problems. I'd be surprised to see it under $80" shipped as I paid $1300 at TSC for mine.

I blast for 2-3 hours straight per day and use it 12 hours a day with other air tools, powder gun, etc without issue. Very reliable, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up again.

I also have a 5hp IR 80 gallon compressor. It's a work horse for what it is. Never had any problems with it. I purchased mine used from a body shop. I've done the regular maintenance and it has been great.

Not to get it confused with the 80 gallon one. Here's the link 5hp 60 Gallon from TSC http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/i ... sor-60-gal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't have an IR. But I have a 3HP 60 Gallon compressor and it holding up fine. They do have other models give them a look.

I have an IR compressor and have been running the SNOT out of it for about 6 years now, I guess.... Mines a 60 gallon, 3.5 hp model I think. It really doesn't keep up well when blasting... but for everything else I'm good.
